Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer; Kansas City Southern
Mr. Naatz is executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Kansas City Southern (KCS) (NYSE: KSU). Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, KCS is a transportation holding company that has railroad investments in the U.S., Mexico and Panama. KCS’ North American rail holdings and strategic alliances with other North American rail partners are primary components of a unique railway system, linking the commercial and industrial centers of the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
In his role as chief marketing officer, he is responsible for sales, marketing, customer solutions and business development activities. Mr. Naatz has over 30 years of experience in the transportation and logistics industries. He joined Kansas City Southern in 2012 as senior vice president and chief information officer and was promoted to senior vice president operations support and chief information officer in 2014 before being promoted to his current position of executive vice president and chief marketing officer in 2018.
Before joining KCS, he was president of YRC Holland, a division of YRC Worldwide (YRC). Prior to that role, he was YRC’s chief customer officer, leading the sales, IT, customer service, pricing and quality teams. In previous positions with YRC, he led the IT, customer service, revenue management, billing and quality initiatives, and managed the successful integration of Yellow and Roadway. He also managed equipment services, network engineering, risk management, revenue management, cross-border operations, procurement, marketing, accounts payable and payroll.
Naatz holds a master of business administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor of arts in economics from the University of Illinois. He earned a certificate in distribution management from DePaul University.
He is a National Private Truck Council certified transportation professional, Certified NACD Governance Fellow (National Association of Corporate Directors), and member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. Naatz serves on the TTX Company board of directors and as chairperson for the audit committee and formerly served on the board of directors and as the audit committee chairperson for Railinc, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Association of American Railroads, providing IT service to North American railroads. He also serves on the board of directors of KC SmartPort and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City.
