Global Marine Services Manager, Chevron Phillips Chemical
Marty Utterback, Ph.D., is the Global Marine Services Manager for Chevron Phillips Chemical, located in The Woodlands, TX, responsible for bulk liquid terminals, chemical tanker shipping, and inspection services. He joined Chevron Phillips Chemical in 2006 and has worked in the chemicals industry for over 30 years serving in positions as Loss Control Manager, Marketing Director, Industry Manager, and Senior Chemist. Industries served include chemicals, paints and coatings, oilfield performance additives, adhesives and textiles.
Recently he has become increasingly involved in sustainability programs and assessment of Scope 3 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions across the transportation sector within the company and supporting the goal of achieving 15% reduction in Carbon Intensity for CPChem assets by 2030. He has been an active member of the API Committee on Petroleum Measurement.
Marty has been actively involved in Boy Scouts USA, currently serving as Unit Commissioner for the Sam Houston Area Council. He has two sons that have both earned the rank of Eagle Scout, who how attend Texas State University. His daughter attends high school at Klein Oak in Spring, TX and his wife is a Spanish teacher for Klein ISD. In the off-hours, he enjoys golf, cycling and travel. Marty holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Science from Missouri Western State University.
Chevron Phillips produces and markets a wide range of liquid products including normal alpha-olefins (NAO), polyalpha-olefins (PAO), cyclohexane, styrene monomer, specialty and refined chemicals, as well as solid plastics and plastic pipe, on a global scale.
